Special  Sportsmanship Award: The Football Officials Association that cover all schools from 4A, 3A, 2A, 1A, 2B, 1B in Whatcom, Skagit, and Island Counties. The Lopez Island football team was awarded the 2008 John Trotto Sportsmanship Award. The officials working every game from 4A-1B rate the teams and coaching staff in terms of sportsmanship on a grading scale 1-10 with ten being the highest. They take into account the attitude and respect shown toward game officials and opponents as the determining factor.  Our football players and coaches at Lopez Island High School received the highest vote totals of all the schools and were awarded the 2008 John Trotto Sportsmanship Award.
